Make/Believe is a 501(c)(3) non-profit maker space and art studio opening March 16, 2026 in Cedar Rapids, IA. We are a family of makers that goes back generations and we want to fill in some gaps in the Arts we perceive in the Eastern Iowa and Linn County areas.
Our facilities are located at:
4333 Czech Lane NE
Suite B6
Cedar Rapids, IA 52402
Our Mission
Our focus at Make/Believe is to bring arts to the area by giving new and seasoned artists the space, materials, and equipment to create.
There are three main principles we are using to make every decision at Make/Believe. Those are:
- Making art should be accessible.
- Making art should be for fun.
- Everyone can be an artist.
Making art should be accessible. A bulk of our operations will be offering a large array of easily accessible crafts to the public. We invite new artists to try a new medium and experienced artists to hone their craft. More information about these activities can be found on the Services page.
Making art should be for fun. We’re offering a cozy, relaxed space for you to come and relearn what it means to make art for yourself.
Everyone can be an artist. For everyone out there that says, “I can’t even draw a stick figure,” We’re of the opinion that you just haven’t found your medium. That’s where our entire mission all comes back together: We will provide the space, materials, and equipment to help you create.
Q&A
What services will you be providing at Make/Believe?
We’re trying to pack as much value into a small space as possible and make it as affordable as possible. On our Services page, you can find a list of the crafts we plan to support at launch. On our Memberships page, you can find a list of perks you can sign up for by becoming a Make/Believe member.
Does this mean you intend to compete with other similar art facilities in the area?
No. There will be overlap in the services we offer and the other excellent art facilities in the area but we hope to provide new and unique services to the area. We want to further lift up existing art facilities in the area by filling the gaps we see in the area.
